Spot Birding Point At Pilibhit Tiger Reserve

Birding Point - Pilibhit Tiger Reserve’s Haven for Avian Lovers

The Pilibhit Tiger Reserve of Uttar Pradesh not only houses magnificent tigers and swamp deer, but also serves as a birdwatcher's reservoir. Birding Point is one of the most exquisite places of attraction and deserves a tranquil stopover for bird lovers, where they can get a beautiful glimpse of the avian world found in Terai. The Birding Point is a visual treat of the abundant bird life in the Terai region. Regardless of whether you are an experienced birder or an inquisitive tourist, this is one of the best places you can ever visit to enjoy the chirping serenade of nature.

The Birding Point is even in a quiet area in the reserve with marshlands, thick forests, and seasonal wetlands, which form the perfect habitat for migrating and resident birds. The most favorable time to visit is during early mornings and late evenings when the forest during this time seems to come to life with the call of hornbills, kingfishers, barbets, egrets, drongos, black necked storks, and of course many more.

It is one of the most interesting features of birdwatching in Pilibhit since it is close to other water-rich regions, which add to the experience. It is located just a few kilometers away from Chuka Beach, which is the only beach in Uttar Pradesh. The riverside has a nice ecosystem here with birds such as river tern, cormorants, herons, and ducks, which is a perfect side visit for individuals carrying binoculars. It is quite possible to observe birds as they fly over the flowing Sharda River or rest on sanded banks, soaking up the morning sun.

Jhand Tal, developed as the Genda (rhinoceros) project site, is another outstanding place near Birding Point. The lake is sandwiched between the Mahof and Barahi forest ranges, and is oozing with dense vegetation and wetlands. It is now paradise in terms of birdwatching as during the winter seasons, waders and migratory bird species flock to the site.

Close by is Barahasinga Tal, a wetland that is grassy with prime grazing by the numerous swamp deer, though it is also visited by a diversity of birds. The reed and shallow water give excellent nesting sites to moorhens, jacanas, and warblers, hence a great attraction to those who prefer taking photos of birds in their natural state.

Bird diversity in the area is also added with the Bifurcation Point, where the Hardoi Branch, Kheri Branch, and Sharda Sea Feeder Canal split. This canal system, with its combination of moving and stagnant waters, attracts such species as black ibis, open-billed storks, and lapwings. It is an accidental bird sanctuary because this swampy natural habitat was constructed as an irrigation system, but has turned out to be a wetland.

The reserve in Pilibhit is so unusual and un-commercialized, making the bird watching experience there such a special phenomenon. The birders have a much undisturbed view of spotting and photographing birds since it is less crowded than the other parks of the country. You can take a guide who is trained in ornithology and brought along to Birding Point and other places around that will help define some rare species and understand their calls as well as their behavior.

You do not have to be on a jungle safari visit or take a rest at Chuka Beach, or even enjoy the natural wonders such as Jhand Tal and Barahasinga Tal; take some time off anyway and visit Birding Point. It is not a destination during your safari trip; it is a soulful tour that restores the tune with nature.
